them calling me: Hello, we'd like to make an appointment to come check your gas meter.

me: fine. we're open every day 9 to 5.

them: okay, so we'll set up the appointment for tomorrow. our technician will come between 8 and noon.

me: we open at nine.

them: oh, so no-one will be there before then?

me: no.

them: oh, okay, then we'll send them between 9 and 1pm.
