To everyone upset at Cochran for flipping (or thinking he's stupid), I ask you this...would you go out on that show, subject yourself to that for 3 weeks, only to let your fate rest in the drawing of stones?
I told Carrie last night that there wasn't a chance in hell I'd go to picking stones. If there was a way to avoid it, I'd take it.
Added onto that, it goes like this. If the tribes are both tied after the second vote, it comes to the rocks. The people voted for (Keith and Rick, in this case) would not have to pick a rock. Neither would the people with immunity (Ozzy and Dawn). Ozzy then gave the idol to Whitney.
So...it was real easy for Ozzy, Keith and Whitney to talk about loyalty and all that nonsense when none of them were going to be putting their hand in the bag.
For me, the smart play for Cochran would have been to tell Ozzy, "Look, they want me to flip, really bad. I DO NOT want to put my fate into a rock pull. Here's how it can work: give me the idol so I don't have to pull a rock and I force the tie."
That all being said...no way I flip to Coach's side without some kind of guarantee that I'm not swapping out 6th place for 7th place.
All in all, and I know David will poo poo this thought, Coach played Cochran brilliantly. He told the little guy everything he wanted to hear. Nerd rising up and slaying the bully...all of that stuff. Say what you want about Coach, but he feasted on Cochran last night. What will be interesting to see is how Coach moves forward with Cochran. He made promises to the little guy...how far do those promises go?
