I'm so sorry to hear this. In NY, you can work part time/temp jobs but it will lower how much you get from UE.

You can't turn down work since they'll likely report it to UE and you would then lose the benefits.

Under the table work would be best. Here, UE is around 50% of what you made before taxes, usually a bit lower.

Check you state's website, they should have a faq about things like this.
