It totally depends on the state. In NY and VA I was told that temp jobs would not impact UI. more inside.

He should be diligent about reporting the income.
I ran into a problem in NY where I signed up at a temp agency, and was not able to collect UI any more. Contrary to their earlier promises, NY considered the temp agency a new full time job.
Basically, during these times, states are eager to boot anyone they can off UI to save money.
