Matt is gay forever, but he has never ever come out to his family nor even confirmed anything when Jane or her sister tried to steer the conversation in that direction. However, he has had the same 'roommate,' Will, for 15 years. And Will tends to go to all big events with Matt. And he's about 48 and never dated a girl. And and and and and.
Anyway, it turns out Matt is also a musical theatre reviewer for local productions. I know this now because i went to see a friend of mine in Hairspray last night, and i was sitting right beside Matt and Will. (i don't really know them, we've only met a couple times before, but, i know lots ABOUT them). So, I say hello and remind him I'm a friend of his sister's and we chat away before the show and during intermission. Well, he may not be out to his family but he certainly wasn't hiding anything from us. Matt was telling me all about his Sunday morning radio show on Proud FM. He and Will were very coupley. etc etc etc.
So, now i think it's a little weird that he's not out to his family when he clearly has no issues with his sister's friend knowing. i guess it's just his parents he's not telling and he's keeping it from his siblings for that reason. Maybe? (their parents are in their 80s, but i think they could take it, they're pretty open minded - her dad made a "get a vibrator" comment to her when she got divorced in her twenties). Anyway, it was interesting.
