My father is notorious for his standard assessment of "not bad." So, I hesitate to call the guy 'rude'.

Without evidence that he raved about the ex's cooking and not hers, I can easily chalk this up to an individual's limited stockpile of answers and compliments.

I will defer to Homer on this one and remind everyone that "When it comes to compliments, women are bloodsucking monsters, who want more, more, MORE!"
