Five Guys is the rare business enterprise with an innate understanding that perfecting the process is exponentially more important than expanding the menu. They vertically integrate to assure having the finest ingredients.
As a point of comparison, I had to stop ordering a meal I liked at a local Texas Roadhouse because they lost a contract with their chicken supplier. The replacement's meat was vastly inferior. Controlling the playing field is what makes Five Guys special.
