In response to "Should I take my regular artichoke dip for T'giving, or try something new?" by MojaveMeg

Here's my take, fwiw. When I go to a holiday dinner, I look forward to eating stuff I usually only get once a year.My MiL makes a carrot suffle to the

a certain kind of broccoli casserole and these brussel sprouts sauteed with bacon and onions that are all to die for. I always do a (well 2, actually) bourbon pecan pie that always runs out and deviled eggs that are gone before we sit down to dinner. My SiL makes a fantastic cornbread stuffing, etc. That's the stuff *I* want for Thanksgiving. Crash feels the same way. I get kind of disappointed when somebody changes it up and doesn't make what I expect and want. :)

People are creatures of habit and derive comfort from the "known". I'm betting that your group loves your artichoke dip.
