In response to "poking! not yet. I did in the past. I am still hyperinsulinemic (insulin resistant). I still take metformin." by loosilu

When I was on the oral meds I felt awful and my sugars were always high. I took metformin and some other one, I can't remember the name.

I finally asked my doctor if I couldn't just go on insulin. He agreed and told me about a study in JAMA about starting people earlier on insulin than the normal protocol dictated. It turns out, they had fewer short and long term complications and they tended to lose weight easily. It took me 2 hours to give myself the first injection, but after that it's been a piece of cake. I don't know if your sugars are high enough to do this, but it might be worth asking, especially if you have one or more close relatives with DII.
