Being Batman is more than putting on a cape and talking in a gruff voice. The person portraying him has to be able to play this damaged hero who refuses to kill, but still has the presence to invoke fear. He also has to be able to do a 180 and play the rich society stud with babes dripping off both arms--basically be a drunken whoremongering dog. Not many actors can bring both those characters to the table and make them believeable.
