random tangent: i remember when i was pretty young, and i wanted my mom to buy me something

she pulled out her wallet and i distinctly remember she had over $100 in it, but told me she couldn't afford to buy me whatever. well, at the time i thought a $100 was MILLIONS basically, and she had to explain all the things that had to come out of that money.
on her next paycheque, she gave me the same amount of money (monopoly money, i think), and then took out all the expenses from it (groceries, hydro bills, gas, etc) and showed me what was left for the next two weeks. i've NEVER forgotten that.
