Had a great time, much needed getaway from the kids and other stuff. Kind of didn't want to leave, though would have been tough to afford much more. ;)
Didn't win anything, but that's okay. Also was amazed by how busy it was Friday and Saturday; much busier than the previous two times we've been. I guess some of that was from the fight. Casinos were mad-packed both nights. Also had a couple of the best meals of my life.
First, had dinner on Thursday night at Sage (http://www.arialasvegas.com/dining/sage.aspx). Wagyu beef tartare and the scallops in particular were both amazing.
Friday morning we were jolted awake by a flood in our bathroom from some pipe problem elsewhere on our floor. We ended up getting upgraded for the rest of our stay to a room that was beyond words. Wow! http://www.mirage.com/hotel/tower-suite.aspx
Friday afternoon and evening we attended a wedding at the Flamingo. It was great. Very quick, but pleasant, ceremony and then an open bar reception.
Was a little tipsy after that, but we strolled back to the hotel and had a coffee before going to a show- The Beatles Love (http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/shows/love/default.aspx), which was fantastic.
Saturday morning we ate an early breakfast at the Hash House (http://www.hashhouseagogo.com/). Could barely finish two-thirds of my corned beef hash, but I was also a bit hungover.
After that we drove out to the Valley of Fire state park. (http://parks.nv.gov/vf.htm) Beautiful. Took tons of pictures.
Saturday evening we ate at a local place in a shady shopping center in the Asian district a few blocks off the strip. Lotus of Siam (http://www.saipinchutima.com/#/HOME-01-00/). For the money, one of the better meals I've ever had. Most Asian (especially Chinese) places make weak-ass spicy/hot food. This place is serious about it though. My eyes were literally watering from my soup (but it was still tasty). The main course wasn't as hot, but was delicious.
Sunday we spent the day walking around and had dinner at Cut at the Palazoo (http://www.palazzo.com/Las-Vegas-Restaurants/Fine-Dining/CUT/). Very expensive, but wonderful service and the best steak I've ever had.
Left mid-Monday morning for the long trip back. Of course our checked bags didn't come back with us, but fortunately they were in our driveway by the time we woke up Tuesday.
I'll post some pics on flickr later this week, for anyone interested.
