My friend finished chemo and had a party. He planned it a couple weeks ago when he was feeling ok, but

by the time the chemo was done he was exhausted. He didn't want to do the party but his parents said they already invited people. So he had to suffer through a party where everybody was eating and trying to get him to eat, even though he had been vomiting a lot, and dry heaving. I maneuvered him to a corner and would trade plates with him on the sly, so it looked like he had eaten some cake, because everybody was pushing it on him.

I didn't think the party was a good idea, and I should have said something about it, but his parents are just out of control.

Finally he said he needed to get some air and was taking his dog for a walk, so we went outside and he got in the backseat of my car with his dog and took a nap.

The few of us that have been taking care of him knew how bad he was, but so many of the people who came had been avoiding him, especially when he needed a ride, and too many of them were saying things like "glad you're cured now" when we won't know anything for a couple weeks when they do a bunch more tests.

People can be so clueless.
