2) A lot of his scoring is a product of his era. Look at the starting goalies for half the teams during the early 80s thru early 90s expansion era, and there were guys who wouldn't start in the AHL.
I think if he was starting today, his career would mirror Crosby's quite a bit. Still a superstar hall-of-famer, but not as highly regarded historically. (And he'd probably end up with the same career-threatening injury.)
