Not sure where this is from but they nearly lost two in a row to lower/unranked teams.

Maybe he/she/they felt that reflected badly on Memphis and that Tennessee despite the loss looks better than previously thought.
I will say that Tenn. looks much better than I expected and Memphis looks worse, but it's early in the season. Didn't help Memphis' case when one of their players opens his mouth about getting respect and then they go out and lose the next game and nearly the one after that.
