Just need a special shot because my blood type is Rh-. If the baby has RH+ blood and somehow any of his blood gets into my system, my body can attack it. It's more of a concern for future pregnancies, I think. It's more complicated than that, but basically I'm just getting a shot to make sure my body doesn't fight off any of that "foreign blood" antibodies.
(Wouldn't be an issue if Will's blood was also Rh-, because then the baby would automatically have - blood, but as he is Rh+, there's a chance the baby could have either type of blood.)
