they didn't wait forever (like, the last episode of the season) for the reveal....it was an unusual place in the series to let the viewers in on the answer....
and that, according to the previews, they actually seem to be going somewhere with it.....the rubbersuit man being who he is will have a great deal of impact on the plot for the rest of the season.
for as haphazardly as some developments unfold in the series, the ones that have impact on the plot are pretty well thought out.
