Travel horror story of the day: A friend came to visit me last week and was to fly out this morning. Her passport was stolen, and now she's stuck here

Her flight was this morning, but she obviously couldn't make it. Now she's caught in a big hellhole of bureaucratic paperwork. I had to go back to work today, but I hope she made it to the US Embassy okay on her own (doesn't know a word of Spanish) and managed to get a temp passport or something.
