In doing HWDYK quizzes pertaining to music lately, this occurs to me:

it seems that bands have become completely devalued.

i think that in the 70s and 80s, bands were more prevalent and had much more of an impact on music than did solo acts.

these days, at least within mainstream rock/pop, it's the solo acts that carry all of the weight.

this may just be a question of perception/bias due to age, but it sure seems this way.

I agree. To me most of the bands I like that put music out now were doing it 30 years ago too -- nm - Capstern Nov 28, 11:33
