Overshare inside - totally bragging about my brother - and office for that matter too ... dusty around here :)

So - at my office we usually sponsor a Christmas family each year but today got an email from a co-worker (changed names in it copied here) - everyone's in to help the kid out - also copied my brother's reply email arrived just now ... (wipes tears)

I met on Friday with Charlie Brown who is Mrs. Brown's son (she died suddenly earlier this year- worked at local eye doctor's office) regarding getting insurance on his car which is insured in her name (incorrectly) at the moment. He had no policy credits so premium was almost $1,200 (6 months) for Liability and No Fault. Linus at Insurance Company agreed to write without lapse even though vehicle has been registered to him for several months. Charlie Brown told me Sec of State told him he didnt have to do anything on the insurance as per the certificate he showed them it was good until 3/2012.

Charlie Brown is going to school at Saginaw Valley and due to monetary reasons he will be coming back to Petoskey the end of this semester to go to NCMC. He has applied several places for jobs (co-worker A told me during the summers he worked 3 jobs at the country club just to make money for school). His mother had no estate so there is not much financial help for him as basically he is alone (his father is not in the picture).

Charlie Brown left the office quite dejected at the price of the insurance as he needs money just to live. I bound the coverage under the understanding that we would get final decision by tomorrow. It broke my heart to see him sitting in the chair trying to keep his composure. I lost mine after he left

I spoke with Charlie Brown's girlfriends mother this morning- and she has been trying to help him through this difficult time in his life- no family support and the loss of this mom. She said Charlie may have to move in with them the first semester as he was going to try and live in the house that is being foreclosed on that his mom owned and they are not thinking that is a very good idea) I got okay from insurance company to go ahead and apply extra family of girlfriend's credits to his policy and premium will go down to under $700. & there is enough money left in the account to pay for that.

I would like to propose we try and help him with some of the college expenses using part or all of any donations we will all be able to provide. From everyone I have talked to he is a deserving young man and I would hate to see him have to drop out of college (he is in his sophomore year) when he clearly wants to try and make something of himself.

Thoughts please?

Well - everyone emailed back saying they are in - and here was my brother's reply - the first part was in reply to my email saying there was a bonus as we wouldn't have to shop and wrap this year like in year's past ... (he owns the agency here)

Ah HA !!! getting out of shopping and wrapping!!! I knew there was something behind this !!!!

in addition to the agency matching your funds set the policy up as an agency billed policy and I'll pay his auto premiums for the next year while he's in school, with the option at looking at additional years he's in school depending on grades and maybe what kind of car we're insuring :)

(I'm totally crying ... sigh ... sometimes - I really really like Mondays - like today!)
