Has anyone here had laser surgery on their eyes? (not Lasik - although maybe that's the same thing, I don't know)

Looks like there will most likely be laser surgery to "fix" my diabetic retinopathy in my very near future. I've been told it's "not a big deal", but I'm freaked out about it for some reason.
(Lasers don't belong near my eyes!! ACK!)
On the plus side, though, eye doc doesn't see any reason for my eye problems to warrant a c-section, so that's nice. Avoiding major surgery if at all possible is a good thing.

my mom did years ago, she had some old viral infection, they lasered her eye to build up around it to prevent the spread -- nm

You know that alarming sensation when you smell something burning, not food, that really shouldn't be burning? -- nm

I had a torn retina that was repaired with laser surgery. Fairly painless, if I recall, and I was able to go home right after. -- nm

I would get it in a second if I could afford it. I think it's very safe.
