We have a very detailed process for the first kid.

Each, independently, came up with a list of 20 names (boy and girl, as we didn't find out the sex ahead of time). Then we compared the names and mutually agreed on a top 10 list. Then we have 5 rounds of voting, taking the list from 10 to 8 to 5 to 4 to 2, with a series of rules that included preemptive strikes. We came up with first-middle combos. And then after much deliberation and discussion, we agreed one a boy and girl name.

With the second kid, we found out it was a boy and just decided to go with our runner-up boys from before.
