They're merely prejudiced against their kids associating with the 'kinds' of people who usually get HIV?
That's a weird projection.
The 'stigma' over HIV is that it's a life-threatening illness. You can pretend it's about prejudice or homophobia or class warfare, but it's just fear of death plus ignorance plus parental instinct. And no, it's not rational or logical. But simpler than you're trying to make it out to be.
