I can see that. What I interpreted as casual may be the elaborate mental construct he's put together.

as to that construct I think he thinks that he's helped these kids and that, as twisted as it is, he's either entitled to abuse them or even worse the abuse is part of his help. I really think he doesn't see it as abuse but as something benevolent. Then again...who the fuck knows.
