"But the literature supports the position that meat supercedes embellishments, as in "ham and cheese" or "chicken salad"."

You are simply bound by the strictures of the current worldview.

I have introduced the perfect synthesis of meat and cheese ever created in a foodstuff, yet you attempt to belittle the grilled cheese and bacon as a mere anomaly outside the accepted boundaries of the present epicurean paradigm. You simply cannot see the paradigm shift happening, which I began by introducing the grilled cheese and bacon sandwich.
But, to paraphrase Max Planck, a new gastronomical truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it.
