Which means when we first met Ellen in Season 1 she had just been reborn after the attacks on Caprica.
The one thing I don't see anyone here mentioning is God. It would probably piss off a lot of people if it were the reason Kara came back, the five resurrect etc, but you can't say they haven't been setting us up for it. The one true God theme is probably the most prominent one in the show right now.
