I hadn't realized just how Bad Ass this was. He's basically taking a shot at the 2nd most evil effer in the galaxy and he does it instinctively. Notice that in other situations, Greed, Jabba, etc he tries to talk his way out of it. But with Vader he just unholsters and let's loose with some blaster fire.
Also, notice that he gets an up close and personal example of what that "old hockey religion" can do against the very same blaster he professed to trust.
