If you follow the logic of Tom, the real Tom not the fake Tom, which I really do and found the excitement quite contagious...

I think the ending that is so maligned fit into the format as perfectly as the beginning.

Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven essentially at the very last moment pulled the rug right back out from under fans and reminded them quite succinctly...

Don't fuck with the original after all!
