Unsure. Whatever it was, it was spoofing a HDD failure and throwing up boxes. It hid everything on the desktop and prevented taskmanager from loading

Do you use the pay malwarebytes or the free? Because this is the combo they were running, MSE and free malwarebytes.

malwarebytes go rid of the problem, but the system was hosed so a reinstall was needed. there was probably an easier way but I dont use win7 so I'm - sycor Dec 26, 10:57
