Bought some ScanDigital credit through Groupon a while back. Used it to transfer Super 8 films to digital files.

Sprung for the upgraded "Frame-by-frame capture utilizing HD transfer technology" rather than the cheapie "Direct projection transfer with LED light technology". For the uninitiated, that means basically scanning each frame of film rather than projecting them onto a white canvas and capturing it all with a camera.

Guess what I got back? Yep. Stuttering film, off-center frames, off-focus images, and light bloom all point to the video having been done in the cheapie fashion. Most people wouldn't notice and ScanDigital would get away with it, except... well, fuck. We do this at work. It's my *business* to know the difference.
