the original concept of internet was a loose network of computers sending 'packets' and info would flow like waterthrough this gully or gutter even if

main drain was clogged or destroyed. however we no longer have newsgroups and BBS boards and server farms suck up more electricity than an aluminim plant.
however there are still short wave fanatics out there who could be a method of communication between distant nodes
satelites wouild remain in operation for a couple decades
