When you exercise you burn calories. Duh, yeah I know everyone knows this.

So, people that count calories to diet can almost calculate how much and how fast they will lose weight.
However, think of adding exercise as a multiplier. You are burning calories at a higher rate so you are losing weight that way. But you are also telling your body that it needs to raise it's metabolism. The body doesn't do this right away, because it naturally wants to store fat reserves. So, it basically stalls doing this until it absolutely has to. You have to basically convince your body, that the exercise is not going to stop.
I know what I want to say. Not sure if this is clear, or confusing.
