Things I learned last night about Air Force One and Marine One

The role of Air Force One is filled by two identical 747s, tail numbers 2-8000 and 2-9000. Both planes fly anytime the President flies. 2-8000 is primary. 2-9000 was the plane Obama used when flown from Chicago to DC in early January.

Marine One is one of many Marine helicopters that can fill the roll. At least 2 and usually 3 always fly when the President flies, playing a sort of shell game by changing flight formation throughout the trip to confuse any potential attackers.
