etc. because of nickel allergies, poor quality control that give people incorrectly ground or selected lenses, no individual fitting of the frame to your face which makes even more of a difference with astigmatism or for multifocal lenses

        depends on the jurisdiction. In some places only optometrists (not opticians) examine eyes, same with selling glasses. Opthalmologists can complicate - zork Jan 20, 11:31
