Get a stylus, it's much easier. I have small hands and had to cut all my nail off and I still got typos and bad auto completes until I started using a stylus.
Amazon sells a pack of 7, multi-colored, aluminum, rubber tipped, metal clip that are exceptional. They work in i-phones, i-pads, Fires and just about any touch screen you can imagine. The brand is "Bluecell" and you can get the set for $9.99.
I lost* 2 to Samwise the Cat before I got smart enough to clip them to the spine of my Kindle cover.
*he's a pen thief. If he finds one, he nudges it down to the floor then rolls it down the hall, through the living room and eventually looses them in the kitchen under the fridge.
