I caught an episode of "The Colony" on Discovery late night a few days ago, and I'm wary of the mechanics.

A lot of stuff seems fabricated. I don't understand how they could do so much with camera crews running around, etc. For instance, how do you launch a sneak attack on the outsiders when there's a cameraman 2 feet away pointing a camera at you? How do you restrict the movements of the colonists? Etc.
