He was probably the victim of abuse by a juvenile. He is missing some teeth, the cartilage in one ear is broken and he has nerve damage on one side of his face. Plus he has seizures every once in a while.

At least he doesn't have the night terrors anymore. He used to wake up shrieking in the middle of the night and it took 30 minutes of holding him to calm him down.
