sorry if I already shared this too
My brother's dog Ellie came to be with me back in 1995 - she was a rescue from a shelter in Glenwood Springs Colorado. Great Dog - but we suspected that she was also tormented by kids.
She was always uneasy around kids and I'd notice things like .. having her in my car - adults jogging or running by us never phased her - but as soon as it was kids - she'd bark a LOT - and the defensive style of barking - with back hair standing up and all that ... and if she saw kids throwing things - that would REALLY set her off on a barking spree.
So yeah - I'm 100% certain she had been tormented by kids in her past. She was with me for 7 years I think? lived to age 14 - we think she was part Burmese Mtn. dog - she was sooo pretty - big too - just a GREAT dog - but she never forgot whatever it was from her past. I was always SUPER careful about keeping her away from kids - no point in upsetting her &/or taking a chance really. I still miss her.
In the Winter she would take packed snow chunks and hike it with her front paws like a football through her back legs ... I've never seen a dog do it before or since - it was the weirdest thing - but hilariously funny.
anyway ... sorry to go on and on ... just some memories :)
