Last night I was looking at my 7th grader's facebook and a lot of the kids were posting foul language and "letters to the person I hate".
Tonight I used the school directory to look up one of the kids and called their house and spoke to the mother.
Me: "As one concerned parent to another I thought you should be aware your child is posting derogatory comments about other kids on her facebook wall. I don't know if you monitor your child's facebook activity but you might want to look into it. I'm not trying to ruin your night or point a finger at your parenting, but if it were me I would want to know this was going on."
I had no idea how this was going to be received, and was pleasantly surprised she was appropriately taken aback and said she would look into it right away.
Good deed or sticking my nose where it doesn't belong? This kid was not the only one doing this. Should I do it again?
