there is a pro-rata clause in almost all insurance policies - they would typically end up splitting the costs

or one could be primary, the other secondary - meaning the 2nd one picks up the fees the other does not pay.
not likely they would both pay the same bill - but it HAPPENS if even accidentally.
the only flaw - if they ever figure it out - they may want it back.
