So I have about 20 hours in on a character in Skyrim, but some of that was random "cool! where's this go?" exploring and

I probably haven't done a very good job of picking skills, etc.

Is this a "hundreds of hours" game or at 20 in am I likely far enough along that it makes more sense to finish with less than ideal skills.
