In response to "Redmond, if it was simple as 'only make the card work for food and shelter' I'm sure that would be implemented already." by ty97

How does the Oregon Trail food card know that you can't buy cigarettes, booze, toothpaste, etc with it?

Oregon can do it but good Old Uncle Same can't?

What about medicine? Medicaid is for that.

School Supplies can be provided at the school for under privileged kids like the school lunch program does for people under the income range.

What about cash-only establishments? They don't participate. Just like you can't swipe your Oregon Trail card at a produce stand side of the road that is cash only.

Just like the billions of dollars wasted in Medicare fraud. We know there is a problem but we are too lazy to fix it. It's really not that hard. Well it is hard. Because you have too many special interest that block the legislation.

Let's just keep wasting money, because that's easier.

How the fuck did we put a man on the moon and split the atom? Are we that stupid we can't give people money for a specific thing?

I am not able to take my health care card and buy strippers with it saying it's sex therapy. How can private business do things and Government can't?
