This struck me as interesting. I borrowed a DVD from the library........

I got it at the main library downtown (we have about 70-80 branches around the city as well) because the downtown library generally has the largest, most diverse selection.

When checking it out, I asked to verify that (like books) I could return the DVD to any branch. She responded yes, but they'd sorta like if I could bring it back to them because in order to 'streamline' the process, if I return it to a branch, the branch gets to keep it.

I don't know if this is new, and I don't think they do it with books but if it's new, perhaps they do? It seems like it could result in some rather uneven collections.
