have a calendar or spreadsheet planning out the next few months and what comes out of each check?
I am curious as I remember my parents just piled everything and then opened and paid them as they went...I have a spreadsheet that projects all bills (even food and entertainment) and what comes out of each check for a year and my projected possible surpluss for bill pay down in DEC

Basically the same as you. I have a budget set for the rest of the year and I know when each bill has to get paid.
