as I said before - I thought last night's episode was great - after reading some comments on the BB - I was thinking about what the last scene in the bar might mean ...
I'm thinking that it's showing that there will be no "safe haven" - no safe place - because wandering bands and hordes (sorry for the romance novel lingo) will always be potentially crossing the path and try to take whatever resources you have for their own good.
There were hints of this in the earlier episodes where Dale told Shane that he was right for this world and the way it had become. In essence - he was in it for himself and that was what was going to win it - but it would be hollow because of the expense of being that way to his soul.
That scene with Rick in the bar was the BEST - when he heard the guy say he got the gun off a cop and replied "I'm a cop" - he had laid down the gauntlet right then you could tell. His demeanor showed to me that he was likely going to have to take those two out - and he knew it - but knew he could do it.
Up to then - he wasn't really facing that evil criminal element ... where he couldn't reason his way through things - like when he had to trade the guns for Glen with that group holed up in the hospital compound.
He had no trouble killing zombies either ... but again - went about it calmly and with a plan.
This time - in the bar - he had to react with his cop instincts and clearly they are still well intact along with his skills as a gunman.
I can't WAIT to see what next week brings ... cannot WAIT!
Also - Covington Cat - this makes me totally re-think what you said about me being close to neighbors ... my mind has been racing with possibilities. :D
I love this show!
