Corgis can be work, but what you really have to do is make the work fun.

For instance, they are natural little busybodies and very protective. So you channel that into something productive.
My previous corgi could be told "Go Do Rounds" and he'd walk to every window and door in the house, sniff or try to look out. Then he'd go out the doggie door to backyard and walk the perimeter of the fence checking things out. Then he'd come back inside stand in front of me and look at me. I'd say OK or Good Job and he'd just sit down. He'd often go on rounds on his own.
I didn't really have to do anything, and he got some exercise and stimulation, and felt like he was contributing to the pack.
