As a temp, I'm here to fill any hole they need me to fill.

If they're putting me somewhere where my skills are needed, then I don't know how I can bargain for anything. They're not hiring anyone in this department - it's still too new of a department, they don't want to hire people, find a more efficient way to do things, and then let some of those people go 6 months later because they're not needed.
