I image your Mac isn't exactly the latest and greatest? Regardless, the 80 hours is the price you pay for setting your camera record at a resolution that would look good on an IMAX screen.
You might want to transcode your 3 clips on something like Handbrake or MPEG Streamclip first into something more useful. Lower the bitrate (DVDs are about 10 mbit/sec).
