I think we'd both agree that companies don't last 140+ years if they're chasing every dollar by any means necessary, even those methods that are at least grey area. Next to no one can stay on the tightrope that long.
Is profit the most vital thing to a business, of course; but keeping a sound foundation built on decades of integrity and strategic thinking is the hallmark of the greatest companies whereas cutting corners with risky unethical get-rich quick schemes is often the easiest way to find yourself on the 6 o'clock news.
