3) China is the only country with the capacity and ambition to build its global influence to a level matching America's. Its investments in foreign projects, its military and its space program are all part of this.
4) It's the world's second largest economy (3rd if you count the EU as a single group), and will probably end up being the largest within the next 20 years or so.
